Admission / Prices

The McLean Mill can be reached via bike, car or train; the admission prices shown on our ticket calendar include the train ride. For walk-in pricing, please contact the mill at 855.866.1376 / info@alberniheritage.com as these prices can fluctuate. Admission is broken down into the following categories: Seniors / Adults / Youths / Child / Family. For each event, the ticket price fluctuates due to general events and special events we hold, so it is best to search the event / date under 'Buy Tickets'.

Accessibility

The Alberni Pacific is wheelchair friendly - there is a lift in the caboose.
The McLean Mill site is almost completely wheelchair accessible. The paths are hard-packed gravel and a golf cart is available for guests who may experience mobility issues.

Strollers are also permitted on the Alberni Pacific and at the McLean Mill.

Children's Activities

Stamp Tour - collect stamps from various kiosks located through the McLean Mill site
Playground - there is a small playground with a retired truck and bulldozer to play on

Clothing Attire

Sturdy walking shoes are recommended and other appropriate dress, as most of the activities are outdoors. We suggest checking the local weather to be sure you are well prepared.

Events / Descriptions

Event descriptions can be found under 'Buy Tickets' and searching for the event you are interested in. For majority of our events, the Thursday and Saturday events include the steam train and a steam sawmill tour - if a special event is held on the same day, extra activities will be available before/during/after the mill tour. The Wednesday run is a brand new event which includes a guided tour of the mill. The Friday and Sunday events include the steam train, steam sawmill tour, and a demo of the steam donkey - special events held on these days will provide extra activities before/during/after mill tour and steam donkey demo.

**We don't want to give too much away with our event descriptions otherwise it will ruin the fun in surprises!

Food & Drink

The Mill Cafe is located in the Visitor Centre.

Gift Shop

There is a Gift Shop on site where guests will find an array of merchandise from T-shirts to children's toys to cribbage boards.

Group Discounts

We offer reduced admission rates for groups of 15 people or more. Group leaders and coach drivers are given free admission. For more details, please contact us at Info@AlberniHeritage.com or call 855.866.1376. We also offer Family Rates for the Alberni Pacific/McLean Mill rides.

Length of Visit

The Alberni Pacific takes approximately 35 minutes one way; the total time including round-trip train ride and mill tour may vary.
If guests are coming on days of a sawmill demonstration, the length of time is approximately 4 hours including round-trip travel.
If guests are coming on days of a steam donkey and sawmill demonstrations including round-trip travel, the length of time is closer to 5 hours at the McLean Mill.

Occupancy

The No. 7 Steam Engine + rail cards can hold a maximum of 180 people with children under the age of 4 years old sitting on their parent / guardian's lap. The No. 11 Diesel Engine + rail cars can hold approximately 65 people with children under the age of 4 years old sitting on their parent / guardian's lap. Our Crew Speeder can hold a comfortable maximum of 20 people with children under the age of 4 years old sitting on their parent / guardian's lap.

Parking

Parking is available at the E&N Train Station - please speak to the Ticket Agent for parking permit and available free of charge at the McLean Mill.

Pets

Trained Service Dogs are welcome on the Alberni Pacific and at the McLean Mill.
Dogs under 25lbs are permitted on the Alberni Pacific, they must be leashed and owners will be asked to sign a waiver before boarding the train. Dogs visiting the McLean Mill must be leashed and we ask owners to clean up after their pets, respectively.

Photography, Professional

Photography taking place at the McLean Mill for any clientele that is of promotional/media intent must be discussed with the McLean Manager, Neil Malbon. For example, professional wedding photography.

Seating

General - there is so assigned seating on board the Alberni Pacific
Group - group seating on the train can be made with prior arrangements.

Smoking

Smoking is allowed on the train platform and at the McLean Mill in a designated area only.

Train Timing

Guests should arrive at the E&N Train Station 20 minutes prior to departure, as departure times are strictly followed.

Washrooms

They are located at the E&N Train Station and at the McLean Mill by the Visitor Centre and the R.B. McLean House.
If preferred, the Handicap stall is available for nursing mothers, which includes a baby changing table as well.
