Admission / Prices

The McLean Mill can be reached via bike, car or train; the admission prices shown on our ticket calendar include the train ride. For event pricing, please contact the mill at 855.866.1376 / deanna@albernisteamtrain.ca Admission is broken down into the following categories: Seniors / Adults / Youths / Child (free) / Family.

Accessibility

The Alberni Pacific is wheelchair friendly - there is a lift in the caboose. The McLean Mill site is almost completely wheelchair accessible. The paths are hard-packed gravel and a golf cart is available for guests who may experience mobility issues.

Strollers are also permitted on the Alberni Pacific and at the McLean Mill.

Children's Activities

Community Connection Events - which take place over the weekends, various themes through out the season. Stamp Tour - collect stamps from various kiosks located through the McLean Mill site Playground - there is a small playground with a retired truck and bulldozer to play on, as well there are several tree houses with in eye site of the village patio for children to play in. Creative Play - There is also an creative play area where children can build, imagine and learn while visiting the site using blocks.

Clothing Attire

Sturdy walking shoes are recommended and other appropriate dress, as most of the activities are outdoors. We suggest checking the local weather to be sure you are well prepared. For participation in the Logging Show Tour, no open toes shoes are allowed.

Food & Drink

The Village Cafe is located in the Visitor Centre. As well the Cook House Confectionery which is located in the heart of the OLD Town, is stalked with Candy, Ice Cream, and colf drinks.

General Store

There is a Gift Shop on site where guests will find an array of merchandise from highlighting the best our Island has to offer. We also sell things that might help you have a more comfortable visit. Bug Spray, Hand and Food Warmers, Canteens and more.

Group Discounts

We offer reduced admission rates for groups of 15 people or more. Group leaders and coach drivers are given free admission. For more details, please contact us at deanna@albernisteamtrain.ca or call 855.866.1376. We also offer Family Rates for the Alberni Pacific/McLean Mill rides.

Length of Visit

The Alberni Pacific takes approximately 35 minutes one way; the total time including round-trip train will be 4.5 hours. 1 hour and 10 minutes on the train and 3 hours to browse the site and surrounding area for the Excursion. The SITE it self is open 10-4pm. As well Thursday evenings for our Movie in the Park.

We accept MasterCard, VISA, and debit cards - and cash, of course.

Occupancy

The No. 7 Steam Engine + rail cards can hold a maximum of 180 people with children under the age of 4 years old sitting on their parent / guardian's lap. The No. 11 Diesel Engine + rail cars can hold approximately 65 people with children under the age of 4 years old sitting on their parent / guardian's lap. Our Crew Speeder can hold a comfortable maximum of 20 people with children under the age of 4 years old sitting on their parent / guardian's lap.

Parking

Parking is available at the E&N Train Station - please speak to the Ticket Agent for parking permit and available free of charge at the McLean Mill.

Pets

Trained Service Dogs are welcome on the Alberni Pacific and at the McLean Mill.

Dogs under 25lbs are permitted on the Alberni Pacific, they must be leashed and owners will be asked to sign a waiver before boarding the train. Dogs visiting the McLean Mill must be leashed and we ask owners to clean up after their pets, respectively.

Photography, Professional

Photography taking place at the McLean Mill for any clientele that is of promotional/media intent must be discussed with the McLean Mill Executive Director, Deanna Beaudoin. For example, professional wedding photography.

Seating

General - there is no assigned seating on board the Alberni Pacific Group - group seating on the train can be made with prior arrangements.

Smoking

Smoking is allowed only in the courtyard of the train station, so long as it's mroe than 3 metres away from any door. At the McLean Mill Historic Park, the the OLD TOWN there is no smoking aloud, and in the Village only in a designated area.

Train Timing

Guests should arrive at the E&N Train Station 20 minutes prior to departure, as departure times are strictly followed.

Washrooms

They are located at the E&N Train Station and at McLean Mill in the Village Courtyard, as well there are washrooms located in the OLD TOWN at the Cookhouse Confectionery. If preferred, the Handicap stall is available for nursing mothers, although all Mother's are welcome to nurse anywhere on our site, that washroom also includes a baby changing table as well.
